eh, i just turn everything off so it looks like Windows 2000 again.

i actually did this fairly recently.. i got a little mATX AMD FX-4100 machine with a decently small case to fill in the gap between DosBox (which pretty much always works) and "modern" Windows games (stuff that either just works, or
works with simple fixes like dxvk or DxWnd) ..

as an example i like to play old point and click adventure games.. there's a handful of stuff in there that will only work with XP, or with compatibility mode under XP, or with 98 (i've heard M$ used to put in custom hacks to make certain popular stuff work. i've had good luck with most things). usually these are the games that are mysteriously not listed on Steam despite everything else from a publisher being there.

anyways, it's actually kind of fun to use. it's a shame it wasn't that snappy when it first came out ;)
